The Asia Research Database (ardb)
is the first database which is devoted to scholarly researches and research co-operations in Austria pertaining to South Asia and Southeast Asia. The research work recorded in this database ranges from humanities, social sciences to natural and technical sciences. The ardb contains:
- Introduction (into the areas Southeast Asia & South Asia, in English & German)
- Persons (names, addresses, fields of interest, research projects, publications etc.)
- Projects & co-operations
- Institutions
- Questionnaire
Recent years have seen a sharp increase of Austrian researches pertaining to South Asia and Southeast Asia. Even for insiders it has become too difficult to keep up with who does what. The ardb is an attempt to facilitate a better integration of Austrian researchers and research co-operations.
The ardb is intended not only for specialists, but also for others needing information about Southeast Asia or South Asia, to help them find out quickly which persons or institutions they need to contact.
The ardb was carried out by the Commission for Social Anthropology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and is currently hosted at the Computing Centre of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
